The Best of Photojournalism 2009: winners, "Road to Office Picture Story".  
Really cool: the Best of Photojournalism is this annual contest hosted by the National Press Photographers Association, based on the best presentation of motion and still picture/web editing. The Still Photography category happens to include a focus on election '08 called Road to Office Picture Story.

Damon Winter won 1st place honours; he's the photojournalist whose Obama portfolio won the Pulizter Prize (remember this entry?). But the 2nd, 3rd, and Honourable Mention honours also represent amazing portfolios. Check these out.

Okay, now I kind of like 3rd place and honourable mention better than everyone else. There's just something about the power of black and white photography that almost always trump colour.

The rally where the rain pictures were taken was at my Uni. And I was there. It brings back great memories (even if I did ruin a pair of shoes).
