PLEASE GIVE TAMMY A JOB, BARACK.

My dad suggested Veterans Affairs, which is good but I wanted her to take over your Senate seat.

I know it's really sad to be in need of mechanical limbs but can I just say how cool they are to me?

I saw a boy in Target the other day with one and I had to force myself not to stare because I didn't want to make him uncomfortable! But it was so cool to see his mechanical leg working and him all walking around all cool like.

I am lame.

But not really, right? :)

My dad laughed when he got his latest leg (a C-leg, like Duckworth's right leg) and they tried to tell him about the various "leg-like covers" they could put on. He lets his shine through, metal rods and all ;)

At first I felt that way but the more I looked at these pictures the more I felt like she's purposely showing them off. I have mixed feelings about it.

Me too she is very brave
Titanius Anglesmith[info]piebalding on November 11th, 2008 10:47 pm (UTC)
As a person who's used them, I have to agree. They're fucking amazing contraptions.
Cynthia[info]beatlescowgirl on November 12th, 2008 12:09 am (UTC)
My dad has an artificial leg, and will ALWAYS talk about it (it helps that he's a tech nerd ;]). He's an above the knee amputee, and has a C-leg like Duckworth's right leg. There are many times we'd be in a store, and kids would be looking at his leg and their parents would shush them and push them away. My dad would always stop them and initiate conversation with the kids :]

I am just amazed by her legs, for all sorts of reasons. (Future tech is awesome, and how much her life must have changed when she lost her human legs.) I am glad that we can do this now for people, and it is so *fascinating* on a technical level.

Barack, you rock. I love that the secret service dude is standing back to let them have a nice solemn moment.

Canada has only one living World War One veteran left. :(

England/Britain has three. The last one remaining will have a state funeral.

President Obama has had that effect on me for some days now.

Wow. Just wow.

Oh, Barack, Barack, please THINK before sending more people to wars. Remember what it does to people, and make sure you know what you're doing first.
